About Public Courses

Public training courses are, quite simply, those which are open to the general public — i.e. any qualified individual can book a ‘seat’ on the course, for a standard fee.

Public courses are also frequently referred to as:

  • Open courses
  • Scheduled courses

Public training courses are typically:

  • Publicly advertised
  • Scheduled for given dates and locations
  • Priced per student (delegate)

Occasionally, a public course may be ‘unscheduled’. This usually happens when a particular date is excessively popular or under-subscribed.

When courses are severely over-booked — we’ll typically arrange an extra parallel session, or an extra date, to cater for the overflow.

Under-booking is currently impossible on our courses — given our guarantee to run public courses with a minimum of 1 full-fee booking.

But, if rising costs ever force us to raise the minimum, we’ll probably offer to re-arrange under-booked dates on an ad-hoc basis. For example, in the past we have often arranged replacement sessions for 1-2 delegates on under-booked courses — by rescheduling dates and/or locations to something which was convenient for both trainer and students. This may not be elegant, but it is more useful to both parties than an absolute cancellation.
